HiiQ intends to build and own multiple new modular data centers (DC's) in rural Alberta. We are currently reviewing business arrangements with DC operators who are well-versed in a variety of operating systems, networks and databases. Our initial Tier 2 site is expected to be online in 2021 and is planned to provide up to 290 PB of data storage capacity at a cost that is significantly lower than the competition. Abundant, clean-burning natural gas will provide the primary power source for our modern DC's with back up power provided from the grid, solar and wind power. Natural gas fueled generators will be sited adjacent to our DC enclosures with natural gas delivered on-site from area producers under long term natural gas purchase contracts.
Our DC's can be customized for each client and use existing DC technology. These modular systems include expandable rack space, complete HVAC systems and on-site connection to primary power sources. Site and data security, safety and the environment are our priorities. Our sites will be configured to provide system redundancies for our data clients.
Our proposed rural DC locations are expected to provide us with the competitive advantage of lower power costs, site rents and property taxes. Our business plan includes securing an established DC operating partner with operations in Canada or a partner that wants to enter the Canadian market. Our goals is to deliver scalable and secure data solutions for our clients.
